Grade

Type

About
Classe IV (V, Millennium portage). The Guil's classic hard run (eauxvives.org Guil P3): typical alpine gorge profile alternating gravel flats, bedrock sills and technical boulder gardens. Contains the famous Triple Chute (triple step) rapid and the Millennium rapid, which is normally portaged; one class 4 leads directly into a wood-choked class 6 that must be walked. Reserved for experienced class IV/V paddlers; scouting essential as the bed rearranges after each flood. Take out at the Maison du Roy bridge on the D902. Season: May-early August snowmelt; dangerous in flood Gauge reference: Vigicrues 'Le Guil à Mont-Dauphin'
