About
Short 7km pool-drop from below Midmar Dam to the picnic spot above Howick Falls (left bank, just past the bridge). Good practice run. Most rapids straightforward. A few boulder gardens need precise lines. Main feature: a wide, broken 3m waterfall just past halfway. K1 paddlers must portage. Several runnable lines — best is far right against the bank. Above it sits a long easy rapid; run right and catch the right-hand eddy above the drop to exit and scout. The waterfall is visible from the road between town and the N3 southern turn-off, with a footpath down for pre-trip scouting. Do NOT continue past the take-out — Howick Falls is below.
