About
Classe III (IV). Steep, fun Val Montjoie torrent under Mont Blanc: put in ~300 m upstream of Les Contamines. A warm-up kilometre leads to sustained manoeuvring rapids, an easier middle, then a rougher sill at the gorge entrance around km 3 followed by 700 m of continuous rapids past the Miage confluence; take out at the bridge near Bionnay (déchetterie). Rated II to IV- depending on level. MANDATORY take-out: below Bionnay the Bon Nant enters an unrunnable gorge with major falls through Saint-Gervais.
