Gravona — Bocognano to Ucciani (D1 bridge)

Classe III-IV (V). The classic warm-up river for teams arriving via Ajaccio: from below Bocognano the Gravona builds gradually from grade 2 to grade 5 with no nasty surprises, letting a group tune up drop by drop. Granite boulder rapids with good pools, road access along the valley (N193/D1) and a friendly southern aspect. Take out at the D1 bridge near Ucciani, or earlier once the difficulty exceeds appetite. Season: March-May Gauge reference: Gauge at the D1 bridge: ~55 cm is a good medium; paddleable roughly 30 cm either side
