About

Classe III-IV. The classic lower Dranse gorge below the Bioge confluence, one of the most-rafted runs in Haute-Savoie and widely considered among the most beautiful whitewater corridors in France. Sustained class III with named rapids including La Pile (III) and La Pisette (IV), running between sculpted conglomerate walls with pinnacles and overhangs. Pushy and serious at high water; wood can lodge in the narrows after floods. Take out before the flat delta reaches into Lac Léman near Thonon. Season: April to September; flow supported by the Jotty dam / Bioge power plant releases, best with snowmelt or after rain Gauge reference: Bioge power plant flow data (online); Vigicrues station on the Dranse near Reyvroz/Bioge
