Type

About
Classe I-II (portages: seuil de Sainte-Enimie). The postcard descent of the Gorges du Tarn beneath 500 m limestone walls, past Saint-Chély-du-Tarn and into Les Détroits, the narrowest and most spectacular passage of the canyon. Class I-II riffles between long emerald pools; the Sainte-Enimie weir requires a mandatory get-out (old mill, right bank) and the La Malène weir is passed on river left. Continuing below La Malène, everyone MUST take out above the Pas de Soucy boulder sieve (unrunnable, fatal accidents) — portage by road. Season: April–October; spring for livelier water, low but paddleable all summer Gauge reference: Vigicrues 'Tarn à Montbrun/Mostuéjouls'; tarn-amont.fr publishes navigation rules and levels
