Vénéon — Bourg d'Arud → Les Ougiers
Vénéon · Isère (38), Alpes du Nord
Grade
IV
About
Classe III-IV+ (5). The classic run on one of the most powerful glacial torrents in the French Alps, draining the Écrins massif. Put in just up- or downstream of the Bourg d'Arud bridge (river right): continuous, pushy class III-IV+ with class 5 at higher flows, milky ice-cold water and few recovery pools. The Vénéon Eaux Vives raft base sits upstream below the Plan du Lac dam, which influences flows. Wood and channel changes after floods; a solid class IV team river at melt. Season: Mid-May to mid-August glacial melt; afternoon peaks, very cold water
