Vésubie — Saint-Jean-la-Rivière to Plan-du-Var (final gorge)
Vésubie · Alpes-Maritimes (06), Alpes du Sud
Grade
IV
Type
gorge
About
Classe III-IV (IV). The classic lower Vésubie: a very beautiful, engaged final gorge (~1h30-2h) of continuous class III-IV between steep walls before the Var confluence at Plan-du-Var. Portage the weir/dam at Saint-Jean-la-Rivière on the left when starting. NOTE: the 2020 Storm Alex flood devastated the Vésubie valley and rearranged riverbeds - re-scout everything and expect changed rapids and residual works debris. Vigicrues beacon at Utelle reads ~1 m for a good level per local paddlers. Season: Spring snowmelt (April-June) Gauge reference: Vigicrues 'La Vésubie à Utelle [Pont du Cros]'
