Bruche — Schirmeck — Urmatt
Bruche · Bas-Rhin (67)
Grade
II
About
Classe II. Alsace's home run for Strasbourg-area paddlers: a sinuous, forested class II descent of the Bruche valley with small rapids, one artificial weir in Schirmeck town (passed on the left) and a final rapid under the take-out bridge at the Urmatt sports ground. The Fouday–Schirmeck reach above adds a slightly livelier warm-up when levels allow. Honest grading: friendly moving-water touring, ideal for progression, not a whitewater destination in itself. Season: Winter–spring; needs rain or snowmelt from the Vosges, usually too low in summer Gauge reference: Vigicrues Bruche at Russ; needs recent rain
