About
Classe I-II (weirs). Genuinely popular Breton touring descent on the freshwater Trieux from the Guingamp outskirts to the little port of Pontrieux, home of the Club Nautique Pontrivien. Class I-II moving water spiced by numerous old mill weirs — most are shot straight or portaged in seconds, and the club uses them for progression training. Below Pontrieux the magnificent tidal ria toward Lézardrieux (13–18 km) is one of Brittany's best-preserved estuary paddles. Honest grading: touring with weir practice, not whitewater. Season: Autumn–spring for the freshwater run (rain-dependent); estuary paddleable year-round on the tide Gauge reference: Trieux at Guingamp; freshwater run needs winter/spring water
