Eau d'Olle — Col du Glandon → Lac de Grand Maison

Classe III-IV. Atypical high-alpine run at the foot of the Glandon/Croix de Fer passes: the young Eau d'Olle tumbles through open alpine meadow in stepped, staircase rapids more reminiscent of a Cévennes river than a big alpine torrent. Runnable at low water but better with volume; the main risks are boat-breaking aggressive rock and pin spots in the steps. NOTE: the Eau d'Olle downstream, from below the Verney dam to the Romanche confluence at Allemond, is banned by prefectural decree, and the middle river is controlled by the Grand Maison scheme. Season: Late spring/early summer snowmelt (late May-July); this headwater reach is above the dams and unregulated
