Grade

Type
gorge
About
Classe II (III). Long 'découverte' gorge run from the hamlet of Chapeauroux (Allier–Chapeauroux confluence) down the meandering upper Allier canyon to Alleyras. Mostly class II current and easy rapids with a few III passages — the ideal step-up run before the Monistrol gorges, in equally remote scenery served by tiny rail halts. Popular with touring kayakers over two days. Season: April–October (Naussac support); best in spring Gauge reference: Vigicrues 'Allier à Alleyras'
