About

Classe II (III). The classic Franco-Swiss Doubs descent through a deep wooded limestone valley on the border. Mostly class II riffles and gravel rapids with a few stronger class III passages, notably around and below Soubey; shorter 8 km option Goumois–Moulin du Plain. At the put-in Goumois has a natural slalom basin whose lower drop reaches III–IV at 15–25 m3/s and becomes pushy above. Navigation is regulated (seasonal window and time-of-day restrictions between the Goumois basin and Moulin du Plain) to protect fish habitat. Season: March–October (navigation authorised 1 March – 1 October, 10h–18h on the tourist reach); best flows spring and after rain Gauge reference: Doubs at Goumois; slalom basin best 15–25 m3/s, scrapy below 15 m3/s (levels on rivermap.org / jura.ch)
