Delightful sport-touring below the Crescent dam system, sliding beneath the Roman bridge at Pierre-Perthuis and past Vézelay's hill through wooded limestone country — extend to Arcy-sur-Cure for the cave cliffs (walls up to 80 m). Dozens of straightforward class II rapids and small weirs keep it interesting for improvers; commercial canoe bases run it all summer when releases keep water in the bed. Honest grading: lively family whitewater-touring rather than sport class III.
