Neste d'Aure — Arreau - Sarrancolin (gorge)

Classe III-IV. A pleasant continuous gorge run with sustained rapids and strong cushion/drossage moves, but rarely runnable: the dam at the exit of Arreau diverts the water to the Beyrède/Sarrancolin power plant, so the section only carries water when the dam spills during strong snowmelt or floods. When it does run it is a quality class III-IV step up from the valley run above. Check the dam overflow before committing; wood in the gorge after floods. Season: High snowmelt or flood only (dam-dependent) Gauge reference: Only when the Arreau dam overspills - inspect at the dam; spring peak melt is the usual window.
