About
9km pool-drop. Flow controlled by Nagle Dam. Part of the Dusi Marathon route (the whole gorge is portaged over Ngumeni Hill during the race). Easy rapids after the put-in lead into the gorge. Early obstacle: a waterfall — may be runnable at low water, portage at higher levels. Rest of the gorge is technical grade 3-4, all runnable. At high water it becomes hectic — strong paddlers only. Below the gorge the river flattens. Three named rapids before take-out: Gumtree, Tombi, Hippo.
