Classe II-III. 'The river of connoisseurs' — the main whitewater reach of the Ain's biggest tributary, alternating class II-III rapids and calm trout pools in a green Jura valley. Put in at the Molinges football pitch, take out at the Dortan football pitch just above Lac de Coiselet. Gets pushy and continuous in high water; the upper gorge reaches above Saint-Claude are harder and more committing. Superb fario-trout water, so be considerate of anglers in season. Season: Autumn to spring rain and snowmelt; needs 10-15 m3/s minimum Gauge reference: Bienne hydro station (Jeurre/Saint-Claude); 10-15 m3/s minimum
