Gave d'Oloron — Préchacq - Navarrenx

Classe II (weirs). Easy big-river paddling on the combined gaves below Oloron, put-in at the Préchacq campsite (river left) and take-out after the bridge at Navarrenx. Class II current with two weirs to negotiate: at the second, before Navarrenx, the kayak passage is next to the fish pass on the left. A good touring/first-whitewater stage on one of the great salmon rivers of France. Season: Year-round; low in late summer Gauge reference: Vigicrues 'Gave d'Oloron' stations; navigable almost year-round, thin at the end of summer.
