Classe I-II (weirs). Gentle Basque touring river from the Spanish border at Dancharia through green farmland to Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle, used by local canoe bases (UR Ondoa, SPUC) for family descents. Class I-II moving water with two weirs at Saint-Pée (INRA, then Uxondoa) that must be portaged or run with care depending on level; a further weir sits below the Roman bridge at Ascain on the tidal continuation. Included as the easy-touring entry for the Basque coast hinterland rather than a whitewater run. Season: Year-round touring; livelier after rain
