Vecchio — Upper Vecchio (Vivario to Pont du Vecchio)
Vecchio · Haute-Corse, Corse
Grade
V
About
Classe V (VI). One of the most difficult regularly-paddled sections on the island: steep, siphon-riddled granite creeking from near Vivario/Tattone down to the Eiffel railway viaduct at Pont du Vecchio. Expect constant inspection, several portages and serious siphon hazard between and under the boulders - a team-of-experts run. Take out with a steep carry up to the N193 lay-by south of the Pont du Vecchio. Season: April-May snowmelt Gauge reference: Best at lowish flows; if the Middle Vecchio gauge is high, the Upper is dangerous
