About
Classe II (Malpas, Gour Noir, Battut). The most popular touring stretch of the Corrèze Dordogne and first free-flowing water below the five-dam chain: broad class I-II with the named rapids of Malpas, Gour Noir and Battut providing splashy class II fun. Argentat is a historic slalom/downriver venue (French championships) and the river carries rental traffic all summer on reliable turbined flow. Beautiful gravel-bar scenery down to the medieval town of Beaulieu. Season: Year-round (daily turbining from the upstream dam chain keeps flow); navigation forbidden 18:00–09:00 by prefectoral order Gauge reference: Limnimetric scale at the Argentat bridge; flow follows EDF turbining cycles from Le Sablier/Chastang
