The most popular touring stretch of the Corrèze Dordogne and first free-flowing water below the five-dam chain: broad class I-II with the named rapids of Malpas, Gour Noir and Battut providing splashy class II fun. Argentat is a historic slalom/downriver venue (French championships) and the river carries rental traffic all summer on reliable turbined flow. Beautiful gravel-bar scenery down to the medieval town of Beaulieu.
