About

The most frequently paddled section of the Bushmans. The 5km wildwater race course starts just below the put-in weir. Rapids are not large but fairly technical, with short pools between them; all can be read from the top and no scouting is required. K1 races also start from this weir. Several take-outs are closer than the Weenen road but sit on private farmland requiring arranged access; contact local paddlers to set up a shorter trip. One possible short take-out is on the Kemps road just past the Fort Dunfurd museum. A helpful tourism office in town near the town hall has further information. At medium to full levels this is one of KwaZulu-Natal's classic play sections.
