Golo — Upper Golo (Calasima / Albertacce)

Classe IV-V (VI). High-alpine steep creek run from the end of the D318 near Calasima (Corsica's highest village) down past Albertacce into Lac de Calacuccia. Granite boulder gardens and bedrock drops in a remote Niolu valley setting; needs a strong melt to run. The Calasima tributary joins just above the D84 bridge west of Albertacce. Take out where the river slackens into the Calacuccia reservoir. Season: March-May (snowmelt from Paglia Orba massif) Gauge reference: Painted gauge at the bridge west of Albertacce (Calasima confluence): minimum ~230 cm, ideal ~280 cm
