About

Classe III-IV (flood run). An opportunist flood run in the Fenouillèdes: the Agly rises under Bugarach, cuts the famous Galamus gorges (a canyoning venue, not normally boatable) and is kayakable from the bottom of the gorges near Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet down through the Clue de la Fou towards Ansignan and the Caramany reservoir. Class III-IV bedrock rapids when it has water, which is rarely and briefly - this is a catch-it-in-spate river only. Expect siphons and rock weirdness typical of limestone; scout thoroughly, and treat the aqueduct/weirs near Ansignan with care. Season: Only after major rain (very flashy Mediterranean river) Gauge reference: Only in/just after significant rain events; the Agly is usually dry-low. Vigicrues Agly stations for spate tracking.
