About

Easy 13km, good for beginners. Long flat pools, mostly small rapids, a few weirs. Permission needed at the reserve entrance and at Roos se Oord. Constantia (biggest rapid): 2km below put-in. Left at low water, right at higher levels. Adjacent landowners are unfriendly - stay in the river, portage over rocks if needed. ~1km below: Hennops weir - portage right. Rambo's bridge (just past halfway): cross over the top at very high levels, otherwise exit left, walk across, re-enter right. Strong keeper hole forms behind it when the bridge is just submerged. ~3km further: first Pelindaba weir. Portage right (recommended) or shoot far right at a right-to-left angle. Avoid the obvious left chute - a fallen concrete pillar creates reinforced debris hazards. Second Pelindaba weir (200m below): centre fish jump (commit, it's high) or portage left. Take out at Roos se Oord on the right, below the Broederstroom bridge.
