Guil — Upper Guil (Abriès to Aiguilles)

Classe III-IV (IV+ high water). Fast, continuous upper-Queyras run put in below the small dam at Abriès. Regular gradient with a constantly shifting gravel/boulder bed - the riverbed changes after every flood, so scout blind corners and watch for wood. Class 4+ character at high snowmelt flows. A good warm-up for the harder combes downstream. Season: May-June snowmelt; upper Queyras holds water into early July Gauge reference: Vigicrues 'Le Guil à Mont-Dauphin' (basin outlet); visual check at Aiguilles bridge
