Isère — Aime → Centron
Isère · Savoie (73), Alpes du Nord
Grade
IV
Type
gorge
About
Classe III-IV. The most famous stretch of the upper Isère: after a calmer class 2-3 warm-up below Aime (La Pucelle), the river drops into the wooded Centron gorge with powerful, technical class 3-4 rapids. Continuous big-volume glacial water at melt flows; take out at Centron bridge — do not continue towards the Étroit du Siaix and Aigueblanche dam infrastructure downstream. Standard finish of the full 18 km Bourg-Saint-Maurice → Centron raft descent. Season: May to August snowmelt; classic high-water big volume in June Gauge reference: Vigicrues/Hub'Eau station L'Isère à Moûtiers (or Bourg-Saint-Maurice upstream)
