About
A little-known but rewarding run for K1-paddlers. An 18km annual race is held here; for this shorter run, access for both put-in and take-out requires permission from farmers, most easily arranged through the Rorke's Drift Canoe Club in Newcastle. The full section is all K1-runnable except for an 800m gorge in the high-3 range. The gorge has been shot in K1s but is a compulsory portage in the race. The last few kilometres to the R68 take-out are very flat and contain one major tree-block that must be portaged.
