Scorff — Pont Kerlo (Plouay) — Pont-Scorff
Scorff · Morbihan (56)
Grade
III
About
Classe II-III. Favourite descent-racing river of southern Brittany: rapids and swift flowing sections between steep wooded hillsides in a Natura 2000 valley, class II with class III passages at strong flows. The Critérium du Scorff race pulls crews here each season, and clubs use it constantly for whitewater initiation when the rain arrives. The prettier, rockier upper reaches around the Pont-Calleck forest are worth adding in full spate; below Pont-Scorff the river becomes the tidal estuary toward Lorient. Season: Autumn to late spring after heavy rain; occasional supported flows during the Critérium du Scorff races Gauge reference: Scorff at Plouay/Pont Kerlo hydrometric station; needs recent sustained rain
