Tarn · Lozère (48) / Aveyron (12), Massif Central
Grade
II
Type
gorge
About
Classe II (III). The sportiest regularly-run stretch of the Gorges du Tarn, downstream of the Pas de Soucy (put in BELOW it — the Pas itself is a deadly siphon maze). Lively class II rapids with a couple of III passages ('les Sauts du Tarn') under the Cirque des Baumes; helmets are compulsory by prefectoral rule between Les Vignes and Le Rozier. The Les Vignes weir is passed via the central canoe chute. Finishes at the Jonte confluence beneath the vulture cliffs of Le Rozier. Season: April–October; best March–June Gauge reference: Vigicrues 'Tarn à Mostuéjouls'; rental bases run it most of the season
