About
The Gouritz and its access roads wind through the scenic Langeberg Mountains. Like most Western Cape rivers, it requires good rains to run. Rapids on the first half are boulder-based but not overly difficult, with three in the class 3 range — the hardest lies immediately after the start. Beyond the halfway mark, the rapids ease into mostly wave trains. The final rapid is long and includes several surf waves, so allow time for surfing.
