About
Effectively a single class 3 rapid running 17km non-stop through the Drakensberg. Virtually no pools, only a handful of eddies. Major tributary of the Umkomaas, mostly within Loteni Nature Reserve. Put-in is near the river's source - only feasible for a few days after good rain. ~5km in: small cataract may be shootable at sufficient flow - scout it. At higher levels a few pour-overs look intimidating but are easily avoided. Short enough for two laps a day when levels are up. The road follows the river closely - seconds can track progress throughout.
