Nive des Aldudes — Banca - Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry
Nive des Aldudes · Pyrénées-Atlantiques (64), Pyrénées
Grade
III
About
Classe III (IV). A steep little Basque tributary of the Nive, run after rain. eauxvives.org advises against launching right at the Banca power station - put in downstream of it at low water or upstream (below the Aldudes dam) with good water. Lively class III with harder moments in a narrow wooded valley; trip reports note trees blocking the channel in places, so treat wood as the main hazard. Take out at the first small bridge upstream of Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry - the stretch through and below the village is only class II and less interesting. Season: Rain-fed: late autumn to spring Gauge reference: Gauge at Baïgorry: about 1.20 m gives excellent conditions for the upper part.
