About
The Tsomo is the main tributary of the Great Kei. Although once part of the old Transkei, access here is easier than in most of that region, and the section is typically run by Eastern Cape paddlers. Paddlers must first cover 10km of flat water before the whitewater begins, after which the run becomes committing. Numerous small and larger drops follow, many warranting a scout, and some are unrunnable at certain levels. The continuous gradient makes scouting difficult.
