Fium'Orbo — Middle Fium'Orbo (D344 spur bridge above Ghisoni to head of Sampolo reservoir)

Classe IV-V. Fine granite creeking from the spur-road bridge off the D344 near Ghisoni down through the Defile des Strette to the top of the Sampolo reservoir. Notable rapids include 'Big One' (V - shallow lead-in to a pinch drop hiding a sieve if you plug deep; boof the right ledge) and a straightforward dam ledge (IV-). The entry to the 'Rocket Gorge' is a portage because of a badly caved-out hole, with easy scouting from the portage trail on the left. Take out on the road that drops down to cross the head of the lake. Season: March-May
