Type

About
Classe III-IV (Moulin Brûlé IV). The sporty lower Ossau, a mountain river winding between granite blocks then cutting beautiful limestone gorges (Bager forest) on its way to the confluence with the Gave d'Aspe at Oloron. Class III-IV depending on level; the named crux 'Le Moulin Brûlé' (IV) is where the river splits into two channels - scout and pick the clean line. Fairly remote in the gorge sections despite the nearby road. The Soeix whitewater base near Oloron is the local information point for levels and access. Season: Autumn-spring rain and snowmelt Gauge reference: Ask the Soeix base (Oloron); grade rises to IV as levels come up with rain/melt.
