Taravo — Middle Taravo (below D757 toward the N196 bridge)

Classe III-IV (IV-V). Long continuous stretches of grade 3-4 below the D757 bridge, enlivened by occasional trickier falls, with the final two kilometres a continuous grade 4-5 as the valley steepens toward the main-road (N196/T40) crossing near Petreto-Bicchisano. Big granite boulders, warm(ish) southern water and easy road shadowing make this one of the best value long runs in the south. Below here the Taravo eases to the sea at Porto Pollo. Season: March-May Gauge reference: Gauge by the old Genoese bridge ~1 km downstream of the N196: 100 cm minimum, 160 cm optimal, 190 cm very hard work
