Rizzanese — Rizzanese gorge (Zoza to Rizzanese reservoir)

Classe IV-V (VI). The legendary bedrock classic of southern Corsica: from the D20 road bridge below Zoza the river drops ~160 m in a series of brutal slides and waterfalls with big reception pools. Highlights include a 6 m fall with a nasty slot (portage left), a 2 m fall with a cave (portage left) and a further 6 m fall amid continuous IV-V+. The 2013 Rizzanese dam flooded the lower end of the run - take out where the gorge meets the reservoir backwater, or start lower from Zoza village below the first waterfall. Grade VI in places at high flow; inspect everything first time down. Season: March-May (also after autumn rain); check dam status Gauge reference: Gauge on the D120 near the Zoza put-in: ideally 60-90 cm
