About
An 80km remote, big-volume and highly technical run, graded 3 to 5, and a major tributary of the Mzimvubu. Not dam-controlled, no permits. Put-in at the N2 bridge; take-out at Dikela shop (hike up from the river). The opening section from the N2 is mostly class 3, with hidden surprises possible at high levels. At Tina Falls, roughly halfway to the Mzimvubu confluence, the character changes sharply: the river enters a deep, isolated gorge with class 4 to 6 rapids, suitable only for very experienced class 5 paddlers. At the Mzimvubu confluence volume increases. Paddlers can take out at Dikela shop or continue all the way to the river mouth at Port St. Johns.
